  • Your weekly minimum so you can stay consistent even on messy weeks 🗓️

The One-Lane 2026 Plan: Stop Swerving 🚗

Bold take: Most online businesses don’t fail from lack of effort. They fail from too many directions.

You’re not lazy.
You’re not “bad at consistency.”
You’re just trying to drive to the same destination…

…while switching lanes every 30 seconds.

And if you’ve ever tried to change lanes in real life with kids in the backseat, a coffee you don’t trust, and Google Maps yelling “RECALCULATING”…

Yeah. That. 😅

The Story: The GPS, The Detour, and the “Ooh Look!” Problem 🗺️

A few years ago I was driving to this brewery to meet some friends.

I SWORE I knew how to get there. I'd been there twice before. I'm a grown man. I don't need a GPS for a place I've literally been to.

Ten minutes later I'm in some neighborhood that looks like it was designed by a committee of confused squirrels. Random dead ends. Streets that curve back on themselves. A park in the middle of nowhere.

I pull out my phone.

Put in the address.

Google Maps gives me the route. But then it does that thing where it tries to be helpful and offers me THREE other options.

"This route avoids highways."

"This route saves 2 minutes."

"This route is scenic but adds 4 minutes."

And my idiot brain goes: "Ooooh scenic sounds nice. Wait no, save 2 minutes sounds smart. Actually avoiding highways sounds way more chill."

So I start switching routes. Then second-guessing. Then switching again.

I end up sitting in a Walgreens parking lot for 5 minutes just staring at my phone trying to pick the BEST route.

And now I end up delayed and irritated.
A rare combo, because normally I’m only irritated. 😄

Meanwhile my friends are texting me "where are you?" and I'm too embarrassed to admit I'm lost.

I finally just picked one and drove. Got there 15 minutes late. The beer was warm.

Here's my point.

Too many options makes you slower. Not faster.

And right now you're probably doing the same thing with your business. You've got seventeen tabs open with different strategies. You're in four Facebook groups getting conflicting advice. You're switching tactics every other week because someone said THEIR way is better.

Pick one damn route and drive it long enough to see if it works.

That's it. That's the email.

If you want to know which route I'd pick if I were you, I'd focus on a newsletter and email. It's the one channel that is working for me and the one I control with no algorithm changes to mess things up.

And if you want to learn how I'd do it, check out Friday’s newsletter. Or don't. Just stop sitting in the Walmart parking lot of your business.

⚙️ Tactical Application: The One-Lane Plan (5 Decisions) 🧠

This is the framework I’m using to plan 2026 content-and it’s the same one I want you using to plan your business.

No 30-page “vision.”
Just five clear decisions.

1) 👤 One Person (Who you help)

Not “everyone.”
Not “busy moms and dads and entrepreneurs and people who like dogs.”

Pick one.

Examples:

  • “Busy moms starting a side hustle with zero extra time”

  • “Dad with a full-time job who wants his first affiliate commissions”

  • “Parents who want to build an email list without daily posting”

If you can’t say it in one sentence, it’s not clear yet.

2) 😩 One Problem (What they’re stuck on)

This is the real money-maker.

Because people don’t pay for “information.”
They pay to stop feeling stuck.

Examples:

  • “I don’t know what niche to choose.”

  • “I post but nothing converts.”

  • “I don’t have a simple plan I can follow weekly.”

3) 🎁 One Offer (What you sell or promote)

You don’t need 9 income streams.

You need one reliable one first.

Pick one primary:

  • An affiliate offer you trust

  • A simple starter product (template, mini-course, workshop)

  • A service you can deliver without burning out

Rule of thumb:
If you can’t explain the offer in 10 seconds, don’t build your year around it.

4) 📣 One Channel (Where you show up)

Not everywhere.
Somewhere.

Choose one main traffic focus:

  • Email + Pinterest

  • Email + YouTube

  • Email + short-form (IG/TikTok)

  • Email + blog/SEO

Notice something?
Email stays.
Because email is the “home base” that doesn’t disappear when the algorithm catches a mood. 🏠

5) 🔁 One Weekly Rhythm (Your “Minimum Effective Dose”)

This is the secret sauce for parents.

Because the goal is NOT perfection.
The goal is continuity.

Here’s a simple weekly minimum you can copy:

Weekly Minimum (60 minutes total):

  • 20 min: write one helpful email

  • 20 min: create one piece of content (post/video/blog)

  • 20 min: point that content to ONE action (lead magnet or offer)

That’s it.

Not “daily reels.”
Not “post 3x a day.”
Not “build a funnel, write a tripwire, invent a webinar, and become a new person.”

Just a rhythm you can maintain even on hockey-tournament weeks. 🏒😵‍💫

🧪 Quick Examples (So This Doesn’t Stay Theoretical)

Example for Jess (busy mom, little time)

  • Person: Moms with 1–2 hours/day max

  • Problem: “I don’t know what to focus on”

  • Offer: Beginner-friendly affiliate offer

  • Channel: Email + Pinterest

  • Weekly minimum: 1 email + 1 pin batch + 1 link check

Example for Mike (busy dad, wants proof fast)

  • Person: Dads building income after bedtime

  • Problem: “I want my first commissions”

  • Offer: Affiliate offer + one simple “resource list” lead magnet

  • Channel: Email + YouTube (or email + short-form)

  • Weekly minimum: 1 email + 1 video + 1 CTA to lead magnet

Notice what’s missing?

A thousand “hacks.”
A thousand tools.
A thousand lanes.

🧭 Intelligent Elevation: Freedom Comes From Constraints 🔒➡️🗝️

This is the part most people don’t like:

Constraints aren’t limitation. They’re leverage.

A train is powerful because it stays on tracks.
A garden grows because it has borders.
A parent stays sane because bedtime exists. (Most nights.) 😄

2026 doesn’t need your motivation.

It needs your boundaries:

  • One lane

  • One rhythm

  • One main goal per season

Then you can actually build something that compounds.

💬 Closing Insight: Choose the Lane That Fits Your Life (Not Your Ego) ❤️

The best plan isn’t the one that sounds impressive.

It’s the one you’ll still be doing when:

  • you have a cold

  • the kids are melting down

  • the calendar gets weird

  • life does life things

So today, pick your lane.

And drive it long enough to see results.

Shareable line (steal this):

“Momentum isn’t motivation. It’s a lane you stay in.”

I’ll be reading replies—and I’ll use them to shape what we cover next in January.
